Hong Kong Citizens Asking for Residence in Portugal
The Portuguese Consulate in Macao and Hong Kong registered about 1,500 requests from people who want to reside in the country.
The information was provided during the webinar "Invest in Portugal. Your Next Location", which had as main mission the attraction of investment and the promotion of Portugal as an investment destination for citizens of Macao and Hong Kong. In the first half of the year, the number of people who requested a criminal record at the Macao-based consulate was around 1,500.The criminal record is one of the requirements for the process of Golden Visas and residence in Portugal.
The total investment raised through Golden Visas increased 2.9% in the first half of the year when compared to the same period in 2019, according to the studies made by Lusa based on SEF statistics.
